Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees thanks you for your support
Posted on 08/31/2010
Since the January 12, 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, there has been a ripple effect within our community. Everyone was affected by this disaster in some way– losing loved ones in Haiti, worrying about how to support relatives and friends at home, struggling to plan for a future when so much is uncertain. This crisis has demanded that we come together.
We have been fortunate to receive support from funders and hundreds of individual donors over the past few months. Your outpouring of generosity allowed us to maintain our programs in New York City, while collaborating with Lakou New York and MUDHA to provide solidarity relief on the ground in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, and at an orphanage in Leogane, Haiti.

5 Volunteers from our New York team arrived yesterday in Santo Domingo, with over 600 pounds of donations from the Haiti Relief effort.
They worked with MUDHA´s staff to pack 4 trucks of items, including medecine, food, mattresses, tents, portable stoves, and water.
The convoy left last night for the border, and will cross into Haiti today.

Update on Haiti Relief
Posted on 01/25/2010
MUDHA, our partner organization in the Dominican Republic, has established teams in Haiti since early last week. 25 doctors and nurses, 50 student volunteers, MUDHA staff, and volunteers from Red Cross Haiti have been treating hundreds of people with medical needs in Martissant (P-au-P), Carrefour, Leogane, Ti Goave, and Grand Goave. They have had to do amputations, wound treatments, and stabilize grave injuries.

A staff member from our fiscal sponsor, IFCO/Pastors for Peace, has arrived in the Dominican Republic with hundreds of nutritional bars and some first aid supplies. He is meeting today with our partner organization in Santo Domingo, MUDHA. They plan to cross the border later today into Jacmel, if roads permit.
